Learning log/ Journal instructions

The purpose of the “oppimispäiväkirja” (learning log/ journal) is to enhance  your individual thought processes and learning during the course.

How you choose to complete your learning log will depend on your own thinking and writing style: Some like to be very exact and to the point in their entries, some are more relaxed in their style, reflecting on topics maybe only shortly mentioned in the class room but that have invoked thoughts and feelings, that they feel need to be dealt with.
Journals are generally more free flowing. They rely on opinion and on personal experience. Learning logs are –traditionally- concise, objective, factual and impersonal in tone.

I’d like this journal/ learning log to be a reflective type of collection of your writings on each topic that we’ve dealt in class and also reports of the visits you’ve attended during the course. The style is free, whatever suits your personality best. Just know, that should you be very curt in your entries, at least the main subjects must be mentioned and “ dealt with” somehow. It goes without saying that better marks are awarded for deeply reflective and thoughtful entries.
The following questions could be useful in making thoughtful entries in their learning logs:
•    What did I do in class today?
•    What did I learn/ think about the subject?
•    What did I find interesting?
•    What questions do I have about what I learned?
•    What was the point of today's lesson?
•    What connections did I make to previous ideas of lessons?

Have fun!
